I recently ordered 2 National Hub Assemblies because the cheaper NTP brand that I had installed just over a year ago went bad. Not only was there a lot of slop in the bearings, but also my ABS system was engaging every time the vehicle just about came to a stop. This time I had my Brother In-Law who is a certified mechanic help me put the National hubs on. He started by removing everything needed to the point of installing the new hubs. He then told me that if I had followed the proper procedure for torquing the axle nut, I would not be replacing them now. He estimated that I probably over torqued the 2 nuts by about 60 or 70 pounds. When he asked if I used a torque wrench, I told him I did not because I thought there was a positive stop that would not allow the bearings to be compressed too much. He told me that I killed the hubs, and I was lucky that they lasted as long as they had. He also stated that even the cheaper hub assemblies have to conform to MVSS (motor vehicle safety standards). He said while it is possible to get a bad Hub from any manufacturer, the ones that customers complain have not lasted very long, and they installed them on their own, were not installed properly (most of the time not torqued by a calibrated wrench). So long NTP hubs, please forgive me for sending you much too soon to that bone yard in the sky.

How do you rate a wheel bearing/hub assembly a week after you bought it? The proof is whether it lasts or not. My last replacements lasted 25 months. Hope these last longer. Ordering and installing was easy, other than that I can't say at this point but I am reviewing this part to get Advance Auto off my back.

Perfect part

Comments about Driveworks Wheel Hub Assembly:

Part appears well made, fit was perfect and the instructions were good for diy'ers. Didn't rate it a 5 because the instructions didn't have the torque specs included. From the fit and finish plus experience with Drive line brand products expect it to last a while. The 20% off offered when purchased online and picked up at the store was a huge benefit. Saved money and got a good part to boot. Would recommend this part for anyone who has an 'older ' vehicle and only plans on keeping it for another 70 thousand or so. If you want very long life of 100 thousand miles plus go with a name brand. Took about 1.5 hour to install from start to finish.

Comments about Driveworks Wheel Hub Assembly:

Replaced front hub assembly and it was fairly easy to do. The hub assembly itself seems to be a durable and very well made, but only time will tell with how long the product will last as to if it is worth the money paid and the time it took to change it.

    Easy install!

Comments about Driveworks Wheel Hub Assembly:

Middle of the road priced, seems to be good quality. Install is simply four bolts more than a brake job. I would suggest getting brake dust shield at the same time, mine was rusted through ( you need to remove and replace during install). Came with all the plastic clips on the abs wire (you know they usually snap when trying to open). The hub needed to be replaced due to "growling " and abs activating at low speeds while braking.

Comments about Driveworks Wheel Hub Assembly:

During our 3 hour drive home the driver side wheel bearing decided to krap out and was making an awful noise. Reduced our speed and made it home a few hours later. This was a pure breeze to install. Drove my truck around for about 50 miles on different road surfaces and everything was good. Truck was quiet once again.
