My rating for this product would have been much higher if it wasn't for the fact that the dimensions of the circumference of the control arm are different enough from the OEM ones that the plastic clips that attach the ABS cable to them will not fit around these replacement control arms. As such, I made use of zip ties to attach the cables.

Comments about Driveworks Suspension Control Arm and Ball Joint Assembly:

Part was listed online as exact fit for my F-150 but was 2 inches too wide. When I returned it to the store they didn't even show that part number listed anywhere for my vehicle. Cost me an extra 40 miles of driving.

Comments about Driveworks Suspension Control Arm and Ball Joint Assembly:

My wife and I changed out both left and right upper and lower control arms on her 1999 F150. Took most of a Friday as I have only typical low use shop tools. We also changed out the shocks. The control arms fit the vehicle exactly. We saved $360 in labor costs.

I took the truck in for alignment and it was very close to aligned, based on our marking the original arms' locations. Product may or may not be good, as I can only tell over time; however, the truck has 123K miles on it and the new ride is solid and steering is great.

Now that I have changed the arms, I expect to only change the ball joints (factory ball joints required changing the arms).

                      A:

I'm happy to help, John! If you are speaking of the ball joint on this Driveworks Suspension Control Arm and Ball Joint Assembly (Part No. 520-217), the plastic cover is intended to be removed as it's designed to protect the ball joint. The protective rubber boot is not to be removed for installation. This boot prevents debris, water and other chemicals from penetrating the ball socket that can cause premature wear and failure. The boot should be rubber.
