Brand new ball joint and has play in it the very next day. Not very happy about the quality of the product but for the price; I guess you get what you pay for

The 3 bolts provided are of a larger diameter than the original rivet holes. Is there an alternate part or an installers note regarding enlarging the holes?

      • A:

Yep it comes with the three bolts/self locking nuts and a castle nut and washer with a cotter pin. I had to enlarge the 3 bolt holes in the OEM lower control arm, the bolts are a larger diameter than the OEM rivets.

No, but I would familiarize your self with the installation procedures before attampting to replace it.

      • A:

---As with all vehicle work, appropriate research should be done before performing any repairs. You don't need to be a liscensed mechanic to perform this repair. However, you should be aware of special tools and torque specifications. In this case, you will likely need a balljoint separator tool (to separate the balljoint from the steering knuckle) a torque wrench (to tighten the castellated nut on the balljoint to the required ft/lbs specification) and a tool to drill out the factory rivets that mount the balljoint into place. A Haynes vehicle-specific manual will be able to easily walk you through the process.
---Furthermore, after replacing balljoints it is necessary to have an professional alignment performed at a local shop. Best to call around before hand to make sure someone will be able to fit you in for an appointment.
