Hey, it works. Nothing special, but a nice package anyway. Comes with an extra lead to splice into the solenoid feed and a rubber end seal to help keep oil off it when changing the filter. Lets face it, Ford has a very poor design here. Right next to the front converter (up to 1600 degrees) and right below the oil filter. I doubt ANY starter is going to hold up for a long time here. 04 Taurus, 60,000 miles, and this is the third starter. Original lasted approx 40,000. Ford reman approx 20,000

Comments about Driveworks Starter - Remanufactured:

Got this June 2014 and now March 2016 the unit died on me. It has been showing signs of failing and now I need to replace again and it's out of warranty. I definitely won't be replacing it with the same starter.

Comments about Driveworks Starter - Remanufactured:

The reviews and videos have all stated the location of the starter is a poor design but an easy install. It is right below the oil filter and oil pours onto starter with every oil change. I found plenty of oil on frame and on starter. This leads to starter failure.
This was my first time replacing a starter, and it is very easy for this vehicle, 2006 Ford Taurus. The dealership wanted 3 times as much for replacing starter with a brand new one. I paid online and picked up at store. I replaced in 90 minutes(including cleanup). If you can change the oil you can do this.
The starter has been working for 4 days wonderfully. This also has a rubber boot to cover the end to "hopefully" keep oil out of the starter motor.
I recommend this job to anyone, mechanic or not, just disconnect battery cable first.
