The reviews and videos have all stated the location of the starter is a poor design but an easy install. It is right below the oil filter and oil pours onto starter with every oil change. I found plenty of oil on frame and on starter. This leads to starter failure.
This was my first time replacing a starter, and it is very easy for this vehicle, 2006 Ford Taurus. The dealership wanted 3 times as much for replacing starter with a brand new one. I paid online and picked up at store. I replaced in 90 minutes(including cleanup). If you can change the oil you can do this.
The starter has been working for 4 days wonderfully. This also has a rubber boot to cover the end to "hopefully" keep oil out of the starter motor.
I recommend this job to anyone, mechanic or not, just disconnect battery cable first.

Slightly different than the one that came off the car, so we had to do a little head scratching before installation. But we came up with a plan in short order and had installed in a short amount of time. Car started right up. Time will tell how it holds up.

Limited income so cost was buying factor. Ordered online, picked up in store (102 Western Blvd, Tarboro, NC. That was the GOOD.

Starter was defective right out of the box. Had my mechanic install only to find it didn't work. The BAD.

Got this June 2014 and now March 2016 the unit died on me. It has been showing signs of failing and now I need to replace again and it's out of warranty. I definitely won't be replacing it with the same starter.
