Looking for a starter that wont empty your wallet? Then this is it. I bought this starter as a replacement for a NAPA auto parts starter that failed in a years time. The nose cone broke off one day when I tried to start my truck. NAPA wouldn't honor the warranty because of this indicating that it was my or the trucks fault that the starter failed. So needless to say they wont be getting my buisness anymore. They wanted $140.00 plus $60.00 for the core since they wouldn't accept mine. I got this one for [$] and they accepted my core. This starter was smooth and quieter than the NAPA starter and had more torque. Was just as good as the OEM starter. Bottom line, dont judge this starter by it's price.

Comments about Driveworks Starter - Remanufactured:

I always go online when I'm looking for replacement parts for my fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment. After looking at many, many websites, I always go back to Advance Auto Parts because of their prices and availability of the parts that I need. Most of the time they have what I need right in stock at my local store. Sometimes, when I am not in a hurry and don't need the parts right away, I just go online and order my parts and have them shipped right to my house. It's fast and easy to use their website so why not?

Comments about Driveworks Starter - Remanufactured:

Installed starter on a 98 Blazer 4X4. After the second start it was grinding horribly. No matter what I did, it would grind. Pulled it out and replaced it with the next starter on the list. Hopefully that one works.

Simply the starter fit and works. With the common discount coupons for Advance is was also marginally cheaper than the competition and the core return was a breeze.

was very easy to install . It made a world of difference in starting compared to the old starter. We thought the battery may have been the issue (slow cranking) so I tested it and it checked good so I tested the starter and it was bad .

This was so easy to install. Ive never changed a starter before and watched a video on how to do it.
Took me no longer than 30 mins to swap them out. My truck starts better than ever. Put it on about a month ago and i start it everyday with no problems. Great price and i saved even more ordering online.

Just put it in my 1998 Blazer today and the truck started instantly! This starter spins the engine at 700rpm vs. stock crank speed of 300rpm. Stock starter was bulky and very difficult to get out. This one was a breeze to install and worked perfect!

                          A:

Hi Daniel, great question! The expansion for PMGR is Permanent Magnet - Gear Reduction. The PMGR starters have no field coils like positive-engagement starters do. This means that power is sent directly to the starter armature through the brushes and commutator, meaning less battery power is wasted energizing the field coils and that less heat is generated by the starter as well.

                      • Q:

There are 3 wires , 1 small wire w/ a bent arm, connected to the metal loop, to guide it into & hold it in place, on the small solenoid stud. 1 large wire w/ a bent arm, connected to the metal loop, to guide it into & hold it in place on the larger solenoid stud. Then there is a 3rd wire that has only a metal loop to connect it, does this wire get connected to the stud on the end of the starter itself? Because it is a large loop, but that stud is small. ????????????????????????????????????????????????

Hi JJ, the wiring on Driveworks Starter - Remanufactured - Part No. 6449S goes like - large wire terminal where the battery wire is connected, a smaller wire where it goes to the ignition switch and a large wire with a bent arm connected to the metal loop from the larger solenoid stud. We can help you further if you need more information. Please provide a close-up photo/image of the starter wiring along with your vehicle make, model and year details and email us at: webcare@advanceautoparts.com.
