The water pump seems to be well made. The machined surfaces mated up well although the edges were not cleaned of burrs. Some of the edges of the machined surfaces actually left shards of metal in my hands as I positioned it. This was an exact replacement for the original water pump on my 2004 GMC YUKON XL. I replaced belts and hoses at the same time and everything matched up perfectly. The pump bearings and internal parts seemed to fit well. There was no noise or tightness when turning and there was no vibration or grinding. I've run into problems in the past so I always test them at every stage of installation. Nothing worse than replacing a new pump after the first test drive.

Comments about Driveworks Remanufactured Water Pump:

Have a 2003 Silverado with 185k miles on it. Has been leaking coolant for several years, but has never given any other problems. Finally get this pump to replace the original one, with Speed Perks rewards it was virtually free. I was very impressed with looks and finish of pump. Easy straight forward replacement procedure. When removing thermostat from old pump I found the O ring was out of the groove and had been compressed from the factory, just enough to cause a small leak. When started pump was very quiet and had good flow. It has been less than one day but I am pleased and hopeful with this product.

Comments about Driveworks Remanufactured Water Pump:

At nearly 231,000 miles, the original water pump in my Suburban decided it'd had enough. I purchased this remanufactured pump based on it's (low) cost and the good luck I'd had in the past with rebuilt parts from Advance. I also elected to replace the thermostat & housing at the same time. Having prior experience with the front end of these engines, the removal and installation was straight forward and relatively easy. Entire job took less than 90 minutes.

            • Q:

Vehicle is a 2004 Silverado 2500HD with a 6.0 engine. Hole for the thermostat is larger than original. Original thermostat has a rubber seal at the flange to mate up to the water pump surface. Instructions say I need to use the paper gasket and O-ring. I don't see where the o-ring would fit.

Hi Mike, I'm glad to assist you! The Water Pump - Part No. 58-562 does have the thermostat opening of 2.05 and the other option is for unit 58-626 identical except for the thermostat inner diameter of 1.88 on that unit. Based on what you're stating you should look at the 58-626 unit.
