Listed with the wheel bearing it says "2 required." This means 1 for each wheel, not 2 for 1 wheel - correct?

      • Q:

I have a 2010 Ford Fusion with over 200K miles. (Yeah, I know, I drive alot.)
I'm pretty certain I need front wheel bearings. I am a fairly good DIY mechanic but I need to know which front bearing tool kit to buy. I heard there are bearing/hub pullers/installers where I can leave the spindle on the car and not use a press. Anyone have any knowledge about how this is done for my car? Thanks.

          A:

Hello Diydonald, happy to help you with that question. To install you can use http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/autocraft-7pc-bearing-race-seal-driver-set-ac3090/10449302-P?searchTerm=bearing+and+seal+driver+set . But when it comes to taking out the old bearing and pressing in the new one I suggest taking it to a mechanic with a professional press. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/ken-tool-new-super-hubshark-system-ken7326/10051822-P?searchTerm=hub+shark would be the tool you need if you wanted to go that path. A on car press can run into clearance issues and that could lead to the bearing going in crooked.

          A:

I'm glad to assist, DiyDonald! That sure is a lot of driving in your 2010 Ford Fusion. From the instructions that I have found, you will need the special tools Installer (Part No. 205-147), Remover, Drive Pinion Bearing Cone 205-D002 (D79L-4621-A) or equivalent, Remover/Installer, Wheel Bearing Cup (Part No. 204-020) and Step Plate (Part No. 205-117). For detailed removal and installation instructions, I suggest purchasing a Haynes Repair Manual (Part No. 36045) for your vehicle.

          A:

Hi NYC, good question! Yes, you can just replace the bearing alone instead of replacing the whole hub assembly. However, I would suggest that you to take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.
