is this the bearing that goes inside the clutch pulley? if so what are the dimensions? I have been reading around the Internet that the bearings that are locally available are the wrong size, I just want to make sure before I buy one from one of your stores and find out halfway through the project it's the wrong part.

In order to check the exact fit application, please provide the year, make, model and engine size of the vehicle.

I've been in your situation... NO, this bearing is NOT for the clutch. It's for the A/C compressor's crankshaft, which is pressed into the casing of the compressor itself. Nobody replaces these except the rebuilders. Advance Auto needs to do a better job in their descriptions and specifications of their parts. They apparently do not currently have a clutch bearing availability, only a complete clutch assembly that you can purchase. To be honest, by the time most of us get around to replacing the electric clutch bearing (which is a semi-permanently installed design - you'll see what I mean if you remove your old one and look at the inner hub where the bearing is) the facings of the clutch are generally badly worn out from the old bearing's slop, and thus the whole clutch needs to be replaced anyhow. For around $85+/- bucks for a clutch assy, plus a special removal/installer tool rental from Advance Auto, you can get the entire A/C clutch assy changed out on your vehicle.

Will this bearing seal a shaft leak? My bearing seems fine but I am losing refrigerant around the compressor shaft as indicated by dye deposits around the clutch and surrounding structures.

No, there is an actual seal that seals that off.

No. The bearing has nothing to do with the shaft seal

  • Q:

Is this Bearing for the A/C Compressor.., or is it for the A/C Compressor Clutch..?

I am looking for details to repair/replace the A/C Compressor CLUTCH itself.

This is the A/C thrust bearing.

Bearing is for the COMPRESSOR and is NOT for the CLUTCH. AAP does not currently have an availability for the clutch bearing alone. You have to buy the complete A/C Clutch Assy. You will also need to buy or rent a special remover/installer tool as well to change out the A/C clutch.
