Comments about Driveworks Automatic Transmission Filter Kit:
Buyer beware! Bought this filter for my 09 Dodge Ram and began having issues with transmission slippage right after start up when the truck had been left sitting for a few hours or more. After some research I found out that these filters do not have a drain back valve which means all the fluid drains out of the cooler and lines so upon start up there is a period of time where there is a lack of fluid causing the slippage.

Q:
"Provides OE-quality filtration"... I am told that the original Mopar filter has the Anti-drainback valve which prevents the transmission cooler and lines from draining each time the vehicle is shut off. Does this filter have such a valve?2 answers
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Hi DIYer, good question! No, this filter kit is not equipped with the anti-drain back valve.A:
As mentioned, I don't believe it has the Anti-drainback valve because after putting this filter in, after my truck was shut off for an hour and restarting, putting it into Drive (D) or Reverse (R), it would always take "a second" before kicking in. I did not like that a bit, I subsequently pulled the pan again and put a Mopar filter on and that problem went away. Why DriveWorks doesn't have it I do not understand.Q:

It's inside the transmission fluid pan. According to Chrysler service bulletins, it "must" be changed any time the transmission sump filter is changed. Torque to 125 inch-pounds.Q:

A:
For further assistance, please provide the year, make, model and engine size of the vehicle.A:
The transmission oil cooler return filter is located inside the drain pan, a separate flat style transmission fluid filter should be changed at the same time, since it requires to be removed anyway to change the transmission oil cooler return spin-on filter. I would highly suggest that you buy the "Haynes Repair Manual" for your specific model vehicle..
