The transmission filter was taller (thicker) than the OEM filter. It interfered with reinstalling the transmission pan. I ended up having to reuse the OEM filter as I was on a tight deadline before a trip.

The gasket fit correctly and was easy to use. A little petroleum jelly on the flange of the transmission pan helped keep it in place for installation. I torqued it to spec and didn't leak a drop of fluid.

This item was ordered and (partly) used for a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 TRX4 with the 5.7L Hemi engine and 545RFE transmission.

Comments about Driveworks Automatic Transmission Filter Kit:

68RFE has two filters (one spin on and other is plug in) in it but this kit has only one with useless gasket. Manual calls for rtv silicone. Other auto part store has two filters in kit for less money.

Pros

  • Easy To Install

Cons

  • Would Not Fit Pickup Pump

Best Uses

  • Replacement

Comments about Driveworks Automatic Transmission Filter Kit:

Careful inspect the filter and compare it to the part that came out. While Driveline filters looked close the pickup pump neck/gasket would not seal or stay in the pick pump inlet causing loss of pressure. The store was great trying to swap and trying different filter kits that were supposed to fit; however, after several attempts I had to use factory parts. This may have been specific to my application but its good to really compare parts fitment.

                  A:

I'm glad to assist, Barnzy! This Driveworks Automatic Transmission Filter Kit (Part No. DW-FK319) does not include the spin-on filter for the Chrysler 45RFE and 545RFE transmission. This kit includes the sump filter only. The spin-on filter is available from Driveworks as Part No. DW-FK331. Don't forget to pick up some ATF+4 when you change your filter, such as Advance Auto Parts ATF+4 (Part No. A104). Your vehicle will likely need between 5.5 and 6.5 quarts.

I am interested in changing the filter and fluid for my 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport 4x4 3.7 lit.. I want to make sure this is the correct filter and do I also need to replace the spin-on cooler return filter at the same time? My Jeep is experiencing a little jerking when changing low gears at lower speeds. Also, the vehicles manual says for a dry fill I will need to add 14qts of fluid. Is this correct?

I'm happy to help! For the 2004 Dodge Ram 4x4 Automatic Transmission with the 5.7L Hemi it would require approximately 6.5 qts of Mopar ATF+4 Type 7176 or equivalent. Make sure to check the dipstick after adding to ensure proper fluid level as it may vary.
