This filter and pan gasket was available w/o the need to place an order. The pan gasket was not needed due to my truck having a reusable pan gasket. The filter fit well and the fluid replacement was not difficult. Just be sure to get the CORRECT filter to ensure a proper fit.

The mounting holes are over 50% larger than stock so getting it to line up is a trick, and it does not seal well. The gasket expands with fluid and stops leaking within 2 days- so that is the only plus I can see. Once the trans warms up the filter seals better and trans makes less noise.

Comments about Driveworks Automatic Transmission Filter Kit:

Filter is as good as the original or other competitors. The gasket however is not great. The main problem is the material = rubber. My experience with rubber gaskets is that they ALL leak at some point. It is not a question of IF? but a question of WHEN?! For my 2002 Dodge Ram Van 3500 I bought the original gasket from the dealer. Yes, it is much more expensive... BUT it does NOT LEAK AT ALL! And to me, that is much more important then a modest difference in price. So I would recommend buying this kit for the filter but getting a better gasket, either from the dealer or even using silicone which I have done successfully on a few other vehicles.

I have an 01 ram that i just serviced. You have to drop the pan anyways to change the filter it really looks harder than it is you will see how one corner of your pan is kinda funnel shaped that is were you start taking your bolts lose from first so that when the pan starts to drop it will pour out all nice and clean in to a catch pan after it is dropped the filter has i think maybe 1 bolt i think and it is a T20 torks but after that replace the gasket and pan and refill...hope this can be of help
