I replaced this oil pan gasket 6 weeks ago and the rubberized material has already developed a split at the corner and the trans pan is leaking. Another problem with this trans pan is that it only has 12 bolt holes and this particular gasket tends to bulge in between the bolt holes, even just at the manufacturer's torque spec of 108 inch pounds. When I installed it, it began to leak immediately at the same corner and I was able to loosen a couple of bolts and shove it back in, hold it in place while I tightened the bolts up. But it was only a temporary fix because that same corner developed a split after only being installed for six weeks. The material seems to have hardened substantially, becoming brittle in such a short amount of time just from normal driving temps. I'll spend the 19.99 on the Felpro gasket also offered from Advance. I use Advance Auto almost exclusively and have found no other problems with anything else I have purchased. But this gasket is useless.

Purchased for 2004 Pontiac Grand Am and it was a perfect fit. Great quality product for the price. I have not had a problem since the part has been installed which was over two months ago. I would definitely purchase this part again if needed from Advance Auto.

Comments about Driveworks Automatic Transmission Filter Kit:

The filter seemed to be of good quality. The gasket install was as issue. I have never experienced anything like this. When the bolts were tightened up the gasket squished out the side. I thought that I did not have it lined up properly, but after taking it back off it was installed properly. The soft rubber just kept squeezing out every time I tightened the bolts. I had to proceed very slowly while constantly pushing the edges of the gasket in. So far no leaks, but I do not feel overly confident for the long haul.

Comments about Driveworks Automatic Transmission Filter Kit:

Bought the kit as it was the only filter they had in stock for my 2000 Saturn LS2. The filter seems to match the OEM. The gasket is a low quality rubber one, so you should also order the Fel-pro gasket (or possibly re-use the original if in good shape).

Ditto what the other reviews state.....
Based on the other reviews about the poor gasket that is included, I bought this filter 'kit' AND bought the Felpro gasket separately to go with my install. The Filter seemed to fit well and was an exact copy (at least cosmetically) of the original. The included gasket is a joke. It is nothing but a thin rubber piece of junk. The Felpro gasket I bought to go with this install is an exact duplicate of the original, right down to the alignment nibs and the imbedded steel stiffener. The difference in ease of installation alone makes the Felpro worth the extra $20. Still, even the total cost of both parts at around $40 is far better than the OEM parts.... just hope they function as well...

Unless you enjoy dropping the pan after 2 years to replace this gasket after it completly cracks apart, DONT USE THIS KIT. I started noticing a bunch of trans fulid under my car, crawled under it and found that the rubber gasket was completly cracked and pieces were missing! Now I get to drop the pan (what a mess) just to replace this extermly sub par gasket.

There is no dipstick for the newer model Automatic transmission Cavaliers. For manual it is located on drivers side on top of the transmission itself, a small dipstick plunger type. Lift small handle and pull out. You should see it from the drivers side looking behind engine on top of transmission.

This included gasket is poorly rated. If you need the gasket,
pay the approx. $20.00 for the separately sold Felpro brand gasket, which is very highly rated, and more like the OEM gasket.
