1999 Suburban. Box looked like it had been opened before. Contents of box included 2 filter seals instead of the 1 as desribed and filter was not sealed in a plastic bag. Removed old seal which can be quite difficult only to find that that both seals in box were too big. Had to purchase another filter kit just to get the correct seal as Advance just doesnt carry the seal and the store was closing on Sunday night. Installation straighforward after that. The filter, while dimensionally the same as the factory filter, contained much thinner filter media. I'm definately going back to AC Delco next change.

Comments about Driveworks Automatic Transmission Filter Kit:

form & fit of this product is good. used it on 96 chev s10 with the 460LE trans. pan gasket fits right and sealed well. Take your time getting the old neck filter gasket out from valve body, knock new one in with a 19mm socket. so far so good.

Hi Rob, happy to help you! I have researched and found that you will require 11.2 quarts of transmission fluid for your 1994 Chevrolet Caprice 5.7 4l60e. However, when it comes to repair and maintenance it is always recommended to refer the owner's manual for the exact specifications to get better results.

I have a 1997 Chevy Silverado 5.7 vortec 4wd. Would I need the filter for the deep or the shallow pan
              Asked on 10/25/2014 by seth

              • CUSTOMER CARE

                A:

I'm happy to help, Seth! The 1997 Chevrolet K1500 with a 5.7L 350 CID Vortec V8 with 4WD and 4L60E transmission would most likely have the more shallow pan. The deeper pan became more common in the 1998 model year. I suggest measuring the pan to verify the depth of your transmission pan.

I have have found some images of the transmission pan indicating that the shallow pan will be flat while the deeper pan is stepped. The information on this site is not provided by Advance Auto Parts and is considered use at your own risk: http://www.performancetrucks.net/forums/gm-drivetrain-suspension-22/deep-pan-filter-394625/

If you have the 2-1/4" deep pan, Driveworks Automatic Transmission Filter Kit (Part No. DW-FK252) is the correct filter for your truck. The 2-7/8" deep pan requires Part No. DW-FK324.

When replacing the filter you'll probably drain 5 quarts of transmission fluid. Your truck requires Dexron III or equivalent ATF. Advance Auto Parts Dexron III/Mercon (Part No. A101 [gallon] or A100 [quart]) is available for your your vehicle. If you would like utilize Dexron VI fluid, Advance Auto Parts Dexron VI is available as Part No. A16.

You may also find that Permatex® High Tack™ Gasket Sealant (Part No. 80062) or Permatex® Ultra Rubber Gasket Sealant & Dressing (Part No. 85409) can help with the installation of the gasket and pan. Permatex® Surface Insensitive Threadlocker BLUE (Part No. 24200 [.2 oz]; 24010 [.35 oz] or 24240 [1.22 oz]) will prevent loosening and leakage of threaded fasteners.

I purchased this transmission filter (fk-252) in store for my 94 chevy k1500 5.7L. The filter did not come with the filter gasket (small one) and the store personnel said the other two they had in stock were missing the gasket as well - they were not able to order the gasket specifically. Please advise as to how I can get the gasket or an alternate OE product. Thank you.
