Comments about Driveworks Alternator - Remanufactured - 90 Amps:

Purchased this alternator to replace one that was making noise. Took it out of the box gave it a spin and it seemed to bind up in spots. Was in a pinch and had to install the new one. See what happens. Do your self a favor and maybe go for the more expensive option.

It's very easy ordering on line then picking it up at the store. At least we know it's there when we go to buy it.

Comments about Driveworks Alternator - Remanufactured - 90 Amps:

I wish I would have checked it out when I was in the store. I had the alternator all installed when I noticed the pulley had a chip in it. It's not close to the belt, so what I may do is exchange it this weekend when I have some time. For now it will get me to and from work. This unit was a good deal, and I needed it fast. You might be able to find one for less some where, but you have to wait on shipping and if there's a problem you don't have a brick and mortar store to go to for support. I've had it installed for one day, so I can't really speak on the longevity of the unit, only that my voltage is good now, and everything seems to be powered properly.

Always a ticking sound that gradually turned into loud continuous squeel. Seems to be temperature related. Replacement availability was poor.

Go with the other one :)

Comments about Driveworks Alternator - Remanufactured - 90 Amps:

My old alternator weighed a ton compared to this replacement alternator. It was light, well built, all the bolt holes matched up perfectly, and it looks like it will be very durable. It only took me a quarter of the time to install it compared to the fight I had to remove the ancient beast that had died. I would definitely recommend buying this specific part again as it had all the components and screws and attachments included nothing was missing or looking cheaply made. I was and am very pleasantly surprised once I installed it, my truck started right up like it was waiting for it. I don't really know about power increase or anything else yet, but it seems like my truck is running better and I will take that as a good sign.

Very good quality rebuilt alternator, and I have been a mechanic for 40 years and also have over 20 years working at auto parts stores in the 70's-80's and the quality FAR surpasses what I used to sell.

                    A:

With reference to this Driveworks Remanufactured Alternator - part# 13354, if the belt is shredding, on the inside the pulley is too far out. Something may be rubbing on the inside of the belt. If the pulleys were aligned properly the belt would be ok. What are the effects of using a higher amp alternator, on a stock engine?

                    A:

It should be fine because the battery is only going to draw as many amps as it needs. You use higher amp alternators when you are running alot of accessories in your vehicle that would normally drain the battery.
