Comments about Driveworks Alternator - Remanufactured - 120 Amps:

I hate giving a bad review, but... I replaced a 15 month old Driveworks alternator on my 96 Ram 1500 4x4 with the same thing. The 12 month warranty is about all you can expect out of it. I have bought TWO of these, same part number, not cheap, but thats all that was in stock with a 120 amp rating. The first lasted 15 months before a bearing went out-squealing. This was after maybe 8000 miles on a work truck that isnt driven much. Still charging great, just squealing. I was in a hurry & needed the truck so I bought another, hoping for better results this time around. Hopefully the first one was rare case, poor rebuild parts, ect, but not confident. The pulley needed to be changed both times, its not correct but thats not a huge deal-just keep your core before returing it just in case..Price is high, not worth it & I will go with another rebuilder next time. The dead core return was almost as clean as the new one was!

Make sure you check the ground wiring first before replacing alternator. My ground connection in the fuse box corroded and that was the real root of the problem. But this was a good upgrade I guess anyway before the winter.
