STAY AWAY!!!!

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Uni-Fit C.V. Joint Boot Kit Outer up to 3.58 In. Diameter:

I bought a drive shaft (INCLUDING ALL NEW BOOTS) from Advance and paid a mechanic to put it it. It was same same brand name as the boot kit. After 2 weeks the boot started ripping. I paid the mechanic to replace the boot with this unit again. Couple of months later the boot ripped again. In total I put on 3 new boots made by this brand. DO NOT BUY!!! A junkyard boot will last you much longer and will only have your mechanic once to put it on. SAD!

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Uni-Fit C.V. Joint Boot Kit Outer up to 3.58 In. Diameter:

The published information is wrong for this boot. It will only fit sizes up to 3.5". You need to use part number 614-003 for sizes 3.8" to 4.3". The published size on the 614-003 is wrong also. The literature that comes with the boot is correct. These boots are not as heavy duty as the OEM boot I took off but will probably perform ok. I am rating this product poorly because the published information is not correct and has caused me a lot of hassle. All the auto parts sites have the same incorrect information.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Uni-Fit C.V. Joint Boot Kit Outer up to 3.58 In. Diameter:

Came with good instructions about various types of joints and how to install it. Problem is that it would not stay in place likely due to size exceeding recomended diameter. Also CV Joint had a groove to retain the original boot design which this boot did not match. When stretched to fit over 3.875 diameter joint (only recomended to fit up to 3.625) would not stay on joint. Store and product should not have provided this part without a warning about this important requirement.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Uni-Fit C.V. Joint Boot Kit Outer up to 3.58 In. Diameter:

I could not find the split universal CV-boot on line by myself so I used the chat line help feature. He looked the part up and told ne the part number to use, he was sure it was the right one I needed. Guess what? your right, the wrong part was sent to me, now I have to drive 30 minutes to turn it in at a store or I have to pay the return shipping to send it out. This rates about like a McDonalds drive-thru kid putting the wrong sandwich in your order and you don't find it till you are 15 minutes back on the interstate. I wanted the split boot so I DID NOT have to pull the wheel assy. Thanks helpline !

Compared to OEM this replacement CV Joint boot is very thin walled. I would recommend finding a OEM, dealer or elsewhere.

Mine are in need of replacement but I don't get a squeaking noise. I hear what sounds like clicking, If you are getting a different type of noise than that I would also say get it checked first by a pro before spending money on something that isn't needed.
