Is not compatible with Nissan OEM, will not work for replacement on Nissan Murano. Flimsy, incompatible. Once opened you can not return, waste of -- dollars, go with OEM original at ------ dealership, -- dollars. Dont waste your time with this product. Anything that is listed as universal is a no-go product.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Uni-Fit C.V. Joint Boot Kit Inner up to 3.58 In. Diameter:

I installed this inner CV boot on my 2001 Isuzu Rodeo last summer. I bought this one because it's flexible and can be use with the CV boot installer (don't have to remove the shaft off the vehicle). The installation was quick and easy. However, after a little over a year later, the boot already started to crack and tear. Now I have to do it all over again.Should have spent a little more effort and get a regular boot instead.

If your CV axle is not completely round (but has 3 sides that are slightly indented) This will NOT work. The instructions state to cut off the top of the old boot, put it on the CV and then place this over the whole thing. NO WAY.

Why not just make a few YouTube videos on how to install this product that you link under specifications to show how to put it on so people don't buy it and get frustrated and upset. Let them know right up front that they can or can't manage the job. Easy. Gain market share. Make people happy.

we need to know if the C.V. boot inner and outer are split boots. What are the part #'s for both the inner and outer. The diagrams shown do not look like they are split boots but the descriptions mention glued and bolted split boots.

Hi Jim, glad to assist you! This CV Joint Boots provide various methods of eliminating the removal of the CV joint during installation. Uni-Fit boots can be stretched over the CV Joint, Quick Boots come in halves that are joined by an adhesive weld compound, and Speedi Boots are split boots that are bolted together around the axle. The Speedi and Quick Boot are installed without special tools.

              A:

A boot failure is a bad one for any CV joint because it dooms the joint to premature failure. A split, cracked, loose or torn boot will throw grease, draining the joint of its vital supply of lubricant. Sooner or later the joint will run dry which is not a good thing for metal-to-metal surfaces that must withstand high pressure loads and constant friction. A boot that doesn't seal can also allow outside contaminants, such as road splash and dirt, to enter the joint and wreak havoc on its precision machined and polished surfaces. If the boot problem isn't discovered almost immediately, joint failure will usually follow within a few thousand miles.

In my past experiences, I have never seen a CV boot that is held to the transmission. The only time that I have seen them used is with CV axles and they are used to protect and cover the CV axle.
