I'm happy to help, Gary! You would need a schematic for the vehicle. I found a pin-out map. That should help you trace continuity. I've forwarded that map to your email address.

I'm happy to help, Ary! This could be a cause of that issue, but could also be the wiring. These are very prone to corrosion and can cause shorts. However, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it, nor provide you with a 100% answer. I'd suggest that you take your vehicle to a certified mechanic for further diagnosis.

      A:

Remove the rear tail light assembly by lowering the tailgate and using a Torx driver to remove the small Torx screws that attach it to the bed of the truck. Use a socket and ratchet to remove the small 7 mm screws that attach the circuit panel to the back of the light assembly. Slide the panel along with the bulbs from the back of the assembly. Pull the brake light bulb from the panel. Have a helper push the brake pedal while you touch the circuit tester to the contacts inside the light socket. One contact should indicate power and one should indicate ground.
