Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Speed Sensor, Rear Differential:

Abs and brake light came on. abs not working properly. Since a special scanner is needed to diagnose abs problems, I found out how to do it manually, and it worked like a charm. 1. install part. 2. disconnect battery. 3. turn key to on position, wait 30 seconds. 4. depress the brake pedal. 5. turn off key and reconnect battery. 6. start and drive vehicle, and lights should go off. That how it is done for my dodge dakota.

Hi Cristobal, it's difficult to say for sure without a vehicle's year and sub-model. To give you the correct information I would need the year, make, model and engine size of the vehicle.

        • Q:

I have a 2001 dodge Dakota sport 4 x 4 with 4 doors and 4.7 engine and auto tranny. I had to replace the front left hub because the bearings went out on the old one. Ever since the hub was replaced the ABS and brake lights are always on. Do I need a wheel speed sensor or something else. I'm disable and can't afford those mechanic labor prices. So if anybody can help me it be a great. THANK YOU !!

        • Q:

2001 Dodge Durango SLT 4.7 4WD. Is this the sensor that goes on the "pumpkin" on the rear axel? I just had my crankshaft and cam sensors replaced which fixed what I wanted but my speedo and odometer are not working at all. From my research it seems the sensor on the pumpkin is what is causing no speedo or odometer. Thanks!

            A:

The speed sensor should be located in the rear differential of the vehicle. Instructions to replace sensor: Raise the vehicle and disconnect the wheel speed sensor wiring harness. Remove the wheel speed sensor from vehicles without traction control. Disconnect the brake line mounting nut with a socket wrench so you can remove the brake line from the wheel speed sensor mounting stud. Detach the mounting stud from the sensor and shield. Separate the wheel speed sensor and shield from the differential housing. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor from vehicles with traction control. Remove the mounting stud from the wheel speed sensor with a socket wrench. Remove the sensor from the brake caliper adapter. Install the new wheel speed sensor by reversing the removal procedure. Inspect the O-ring on the sensor and replace it if worn. Tighten the wheel speed sensor mounting stud to 200 in. lbs. with a torque wrench. Ensure the seal between the sensor and the wiring connector is securely in place.
