Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Power Window Regulator and Motor Assembly:

Great videos online that make installing this install easy. Shows door card removal, and install of mechanism on my specific car type. All was done in 30 minutes from pulling door card to replacing window mechanism, to replacing door card. All down without a scratch to me or on car either. Last one done by dealer costs over $440. This was about $100. Well worth 30 ,I mutes of my time to save $300+. That about $600 per hour I paid myself.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Power Window Regulator and Motor Assembly:

Use youtube if you don't know how to remove the door panel! We almost messed ours up by applying pressure the wrong way to get it off. All we had to do was remove the screws, then bump the door panel directly UP, and it was off. There is a video that addresses this exact repair, with this exact same Dorman part that Advance Auto Parts sells.

This replacement part was actually available without special ordering from my local Advance Auto Parts the same day!!!! Hint hint: Order online and pick up locally and save money! This was a great deal.

Don't be too concerned with doing this job. It was actually quite easy! It's best if you use a helper to hold the glass up.

Purchased to replace the original equipment assembly in my 2004 Dakota, which had broken a cable. Perfect fit, easy install, works like a charm. No issues at all and I would buy again if I have another window problem in one of my vehicles.

This assembly was incredibly easy to install. What seemed like a daunting task of replacing my broken power window assembly only actually took me about 30 minutes...and that was only because I was taking my time! Heck, cleaning the residue from the duct tape that held my window up took longer than the installation! Awesome product!

Website did not clearly specify whether this was a front or rear operator. The cost is different for these and it would help if it was clear when ordering. No big deal, all went well and the store personnel were cery helpful.

                          A:

It is not necessary to replace the motor when replacing the power window regulator. I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem. For any further assistance, please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our Parts Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

I opened up my door after my window fell and scratched my head. My mechanic did not call me back. I found a video on youtube for my 2003 Dakota which showed how to remove the door panel (phillips head), the wires to disconnect for the mirror, door locks and windows, and undo the door latch and lock, and remove the water barrier. Those were the hardest parts. The video also showed to have the window down to unbolt it from the bracket (10mm socket). Easy job and I am far from a mechanic. Dealer wanted over $225 just for the part, but I already knew they were far less expensive when I was looking for a how to video. If I can do it, so can you.

Well this all depends on the skill level of whoever is removing or replacing the part. Some may have a harder time than others who have experience. I would recommend purchasing a Haynes repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts.

The Haynes repair manual has absolutely NOTHING of value when it comes to the electronic windows. If you want to double check, borrow it from the library - otherwise, save yourself the money and google directions.

I just purchased this part and installed it but the window is not going all the way up. Is there something I can do to adjust the window on the track? Does the 2000 Dakota use a sash system for this type of adjustment?
