    very bad

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Plastic:

I got the part and everything bolted on just fine but apparently something was inside the intake and when I started up the truck it got sucked into the motor and destroyed my motor. So now in addition to buying an almost three hundred dollar part I am rebuilding my motor or getting another one and no one is paying for it but me because no one will accept responsibility. The part does not come with molded in brass pieces like the original where all the bolts and screws go. I did not like that at all.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Plastic:

Instructions to install the part are straight forward (included with part). You will spend more time getting to the intake manifold than removing the intake manifold. Your ignition coils and certain accessories that are mounted on top of the manifold (that don't require a torque wrench) are install using self tapping screws (comes included with manifold). Gaskets and coolant crossover tube come pre-installed on the manifold, which makes it nice when installing it. Made sure the mounting surface (on the engine) was well cleaned and have not had any leaks so far with this product. You will need to research the torque on the mounting bolts and throttle assembly that mounts on top(Haynes manual helped me). Good job for someone with a working knowledge of an engine, not good for a first timer.

Hi Adam, great question! The answer to this is bit more complicated than you think. This needs an expertise to determine. I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not solve or be the problem.

Please DO NOT forget to install the small gasket on the PCV hose connection on the top of the manifold BEFORE you re-install the throttle body. The plastic connecter is attached but you MUST remove it and install the included o-ring or you will experience a drastic vacuum leak and throw codes 0171 & 0174 (lean banks).

I have a ford expedtion and it was leaking coolant and it started to have misfire problems in #3. I took the truck to the ford dealership and they said I hade a crack manifold and wanted $1400 for repair and instillation. Heres the thing I dont undersstand they told me that to replace I need to purchase the whole big intake block, it was told to me it comes as one peice and I see just a part of it is that right? If so can I see or purchase the whole intake not just a part of it.

          A:

Try changing the O-ring on the thermostat housing. If it does not work then check the bolts on the housing if they are tight enough. If there is a problem still then you might have to spend more for the intake manifold gaskets. For any further assistance please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto store and one of our representatives will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.
