Great product. FIt perfectly. Directions are not clear on how to get to the tumblers, but once I figured that out, I was good to go. Had the whole thing done, start to finish, in 45 minutes.

There is a video on youtube. Look up Dorman ignition.

Able to swap out with a 2001 Chrysler Voyager original ignition cylinder with very little issue. Just remember to unhook the both battery terminals before pulling out the old cylinder. Choose not to re-key for the old key.

Direct replacement for a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. Along with Dorman's You-tube video on how to re-set the tumblers to fit the jeep's original key, I was able to change the new ignition key cylinder's tumblers to match the original key. Simple and effective.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Ignition Lock Cylinder with Tumblers:

Easy to re-key took less than five minutes. Instead or taking old pins out and laying them on the sheet, just pull up read the number and write down, when putting pins in new lock write what factory installed down as you remove them, this way if down the road you need the key that came with the lock set you have the configuration

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Ignition Lock Cylinder with Tumblers:

My 2003 Grand Caravan is up to 170,000 miles. At about 80,000 miles, they ignition key started to stick, forcing me to tap the end of the key with a small hammer while turning the key. I took the cylinder apart and cleaned it, but it started again, so I decided to buy this replacement by Dorman. I've always had good results with that brand, including radiator cooling fans.
I decided to re-key the new cylinder to fit my old keys, which is the most convenient, plus you don't have to program the keys that come with this kit. It takes about 30-45 minutes, and a clean, well-lighted work area. It works perfectly, and Dorman included enough spare pins that I was able to put a set of new pins in my old cylinder so that I could keep it as a spare.

I replaced the ignition lock cylinder in my wife's van even though I could have saved money by just "bumping" hitting the key so that the old cylinder would work. Advance Auto parts had the same price as all the other auto parts stores but offered a discount by purchasing online. Advance Auto is now my go to place for auto parts.

                          A:

Hi bigchiefnez, Please follow these instructions. Electrical Feed - The ignition lock cylinder receives power via the car battery. To replace the ignition lock cylinder, the operator must use an adjustable wrench to remove the cable connected to the battery's negative terminal. Hardware Removal - The operator must remove the trim panels around the steering wheel to gain access to the ignition lock cylinder. The cylinder typically contains tamper proof screws to deter theft, which must then be removed in order to withdraw the damaged cylinder. Cylinder Replacement - Once the operator removes the tamper proof hardware, he may pull out the ignition lock assembly. The faulty cylinder is then detached from the lock assembly, and a new cylinder is connected to the lock assembly. The operator can then replace the lock assembly, reattach the hardware and replace the steering wheel trim panels.

My fiancé lost my only key to out 2000 jeep grand Cherokee. After breaking in the jeep with a coat hanger(fun) I disconnected the batterie because the alarm was going off. After replacing the ignition when I start the vehicle it runs for about 5 seconds and shuts off. I thought it was with alarm so I called a dealer. They said that the ignition and keys have codes in them and not to use this ignition because it will lock my motor. If anyone could verify this or even tell me how to get the alarm off I would greatly appreciate it
