Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions HVA/C Air Door Actuator:

The dealer part breaks every 2 years or so. Ford knows of the problem but elects not to stand by the defect. I saved approx $800 by doing it myself but it did take 4 hours start to finish. It is tough to install the part because it is in a very tight spot. Recommend going on YouTube and getting detailed video of how to install. The outcome is great. No more "clicking" and can change from hot to cold with the knob on dashboard. I am handy but this is a 6 or 7 on the 1-10 scale of toughness. I hope this product will last longer than the lousy Ford Part.. Good luck..

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions HVA/C Air Door Actuator:

The part fit perfectly, although it was time consuming to install. The videos on Youtube were a big help. No need to remove the whole dash panel or cut the dash panel. It took me about 4 hours. I was glad to know that only 3 screws are used to hold the part in place. Even though there are clearly 4 holes in the part for fasteners. One other helpful hint for me was that if you turn on power to the part before you install it, it will move / rotate to a mid (warm) setting. I had to plug in the temp control knob & put it back to cold before I installed the part.
2004 Mountaineer, regular A/C, not auto temp control.

The installation was a difficult task but after review of blogs on the internet the steps required for removal and installation were more directly understood. The part was a direct replacement and operated as expected.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions HVA/C Air Door Actuator:

Didn't have to remove dashboard and console like online instructions tell you to do. My Eddie Bauer edition Explorer has a driver's side vent cover that pops off near the floor by the center console. If you have small hands and a small ratchet, you can replace this part fairly easily without taking the dashboard and console apart. Took a couple of hours to get the old part off and about an hour or so to reinstall the new part.

I have investigated the trouble i am having with my heat in my vehicle. Even with the fan off, if I turn my dial to hot, I hear a clicking under my dash, and with the fan on, it only blows cold air. My air conditioner works perfectly, which has led me to believe that this is the part I need. Can you confirm or deny please? I have a friend that will put it in for me as I cannot afford the labor at a shop, but I need to know that I am purchasing the right thing for him. Thank you!
