        The valve is located on top of the tank. It vents to the charcoal canister.

        Fuel will slowly evaporate/splash out of your gas tank. (Leak may cause a fire hazard to have gas and gas fumes leaking from tank.) Could cause a problem with vapor lock in fuel lines or cause your emissions system to malfunction, depending on your vehicle's systems.

        Basically, you should be able to drive home (though you would have an increased risk of fire) or to the shop without this line connected, but you shouldn't leave it off for too long. On newer vehicles, this may create a service engine warning.
