Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Fuel Tank Level Sensor:

Level sensor was easy to install, took about 40 minutes in my driveway. My gas gage now works. The only problem was the rubber gasket was thicker than the old one. I couldn't get it into the tank far enough to install the locking ring so I put the old gasket back on.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Fuel Tank Level Sensor:

The gas gauge on my 2004 Monte Carlo was stuck on empty although there was plenty of gas in it. After some research and testing I came to the conclusion that the fuel tank level sensor was bad. This part was a direct replacement and only took about 45min to replace. It was very easy and straight forward. Like other reviewers, I also used the old gasket because the one that came with the part was too thick.

This product works well. Only problem I had was the rubber gasket for the gas tank was to large. My old gasket was in good shape, so I reused the old one.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Fuel Tank Level Sensor:

The main thing you should know before installing is that there is a clip on top of the main clip on the sender that you must not damage as you will need to reuse it, yet they give you new wire connector clips... Anyway after forcing it back in with the original clip it stays in place just fine, use the original gasket, or oem replacement. Gas gauge was erratic before, and now it works just fine. Not a bad replacement if you've got some existing knowledge. There's a good how-to on youtube for a pontiac bonneville that should be the same procedure as most applications for this part.

Wish they covered my time I spent trying to fit the pump/sender back in tank and picking up a new gasket. I finally noticed the tank seal was several milimeters thicker than the old gasket. Had to go buy a gasket from dealer and it fit right into place. If they don't fix this concern would not recomenned

the retaining clips are not the right length. Trying to make them lock-in broke one. I did not see a safety clip, and used my old one. The device works great, had to give it 4 because of the flaw with the clip. And a possible 1.5 hr drive to return it if it didn't stay.

The fuel level sensor on your 2002 chevrolet Impala is located in the fuel pump. In the trunk towards the front(right behind the back seat), there is a cover that you can unbolt and remove the fuel pump without dropping the tank, you can then replace the sensor once it is out.
