      A:

Hi Dave, with reference to your inquiry on the Dorman - OE Solutions C.V. Joint Solvent Welded Split Boot Kit Front Outer -part# 614-474, CV joint boot is just a rubber like sleeve that goes over the CV joint to keep out road crap from getting into and destroying the CV joint which is part of the transaxle. A common cause of boot failure is excessive heat from defective brakes, so it is recommended to check the brakes at the same time. If the complete CV joint has been worn out, it has to be replaced as an assembly. However, without the presence of the vehicle we could neither diagnose the problem nor provide you with a 100% answer. We would suggest you to get assistance from a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem. For any further assistance, you may also call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our Parts Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.
