Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions C.V. Joint Solvent Welded Split Boot Kit Front Outer:

This product was not an an exact fit as stated. If you have to use the axle tapered shim it will not work. the boot will slip off no matter how much you tighten it. When gluing the halves together you have to wait an hour+ for each side to dry. A very difficult product to use. I cut it off and replaced it with the bolt type which was rubber (not vinyl). I originally purchased this item because of of a comment that the bolt type only lasted 15,000 miles. I spent a lot of time and money on a product that got 0 miles use. Save yourself a lot of time and a little money and purchase the bolt type.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions C.V. Joint Solvent Welded Split Boot Kit Front Outer:

I wish I could edit my first post. After fiddling with this thing off and on the last few days, I found that I could get it to stay put by greasing the second 'step' and stretching it onto the CV hub. I still have to use a hose clamp, mounted on the shaft, to hold the small end in place. I also had to use an old, used band on the CV side. It'd probably stay anyway, since it's on so tight. If not for the cheap bands, I'd give it a 5.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions C.V. Joint Solvent Welded Split Boot Kit Front Outer:

I installed this on a 1990 Buick Lesabre in Sept. 2013. It came off the hub immediately. So, I tried to figure out how to get it to stay. I pushed it down the shaft closer to the hub and put a clamp to hold it in place. It stayed on until this past week. I replaced the flimsy band, but it pulled off today when I made a sharp right turn. It just doesn't seem to be big enough. Maybe a heftier band would hold it.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions C.V. Joint Solvent Welded Split Boot Kit Front Outer:

I've been driving around with this for 2 months and so far it seems to stay in place with no problem. As long as you install it exactly according to instructions it works well. The only problem I noticed is that the metal straps are low quality and partially broke during installation. Luckily everything is still ok other than that. Considering I couldn't find it anywhere else I'm happy with it.
