The sheet metal seems thinner that the OEM shield, but it was hard to tell, as my originals were really rusted. In order to replace these correctly, you must remove the axles. As a shortcut, you can cut a 1- 1/8" slot from the center to the outside, which is what I did. Make sure to position the slot so it is covered by the caliper, and that way the shielding is hardly compromised.
