Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Blend Door Repair Kit:

I used the blend doors to replace the originals by cutting into the heater - a method I found on the web. I had no problem removing the broken ones or installing the new ones. Replace access cover - added the new blend door motor as original was missing and everything now works fine!

I have a 1999 Grand Cherokee and am not sure if this is what I need or not. Just replaced fan motor and still barely blows hot or cold air out vents. Is this the problem that the two blend doors are broken and need replaced? Thanks

Hi Lane, Sorry, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it nor provide you with a 100% answer. I would suggest that you to take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.

    • Q:

Will this part take care of having heat when using controls for A/C and having cool air when using heat controls? I have dual air controls and sometimes have warm air on one side while the other has cool air. Want to know if this part will take care of the problem? I have a 1999 jeep grand Cherokee limited.
      Thank you.

        A:

Hi Susan, The blend door, blends or mixes the hot air with the cold air. There usually is an actuator motor that opens and closes the blend door a little at a time to adjust how much hot air and cold air to mix for the temperature setting you have chosen. If your blend door or doors are broken sometimes you will only get cold air coming through the vents or maybe just hot air with no air conditioning. However, I would suggest that you to take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.

Do I need to remove the entire dashboard to replace this on my 2004 jeep Cherokee or can I just cut a hole behind the glove box

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

If you open your glove box all the way down then looking at the plenum box, on the left-ish side you will see a motor, this turns your blend door, take it off. You now have to make some cuts to get inside your plenum box and your blend door will come right out, there's also a divider (dual air) that should slide out.Cut your plastic with a dremel tool or something of the sort.
