Hands down the quality of this housing far exceeded the plastic piece of junk that came from the factory and left my daughter stranded on the side of the Hwy.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Aluminum Thermostat Housing:

I think the thermostat was rated for the wrong temperature. It also, over the space of 3 weeks and intermittently continued to act up and overheat. It was difficult to diagnose the problem because it was a new part. Another $ 4.99 fixed the problem. Our suggestion, when you purchase this part, which is much better than the original plastic housing - buy a separate thermostate. The new housing comes in 2 parts w/ 2 gaskets. SAVE THE GASKET ON THE THERMOSTAT!!!

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Aluminum Thermostat Housing:

I returned this twice now. 1st one broke an ear off upon installation. 2nd one leaked around small hose fitting (screw in type instead of molded together). 3rd one leaked around base. Going to take it back and get the OE Part from Dealership! Normally I don't like dealership parts, but this is ridiculous.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Aluminum Thermostat Housing:

Purchased this product after OEM plastic housing split at seam. Car ran 3 days then suddenly overheated. After some time of testing, found the thermostat was not opening. Tested by hanging in a pan of boiling water and it never moved, even over 215 deg F. Lucky I had not discarded to one that was in the plastic housing, installed it and car is doing well. Could have warped the head by getting too hot. Major $$$$$$$

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Aluminum Thermostat Housing:

This is a great improvement over the original OEM part, and an improvement over the re-engineered OEM part (which fails at stress risers). One problem is that the thermostat was not marked with its temperature range (it's only 175 F whereas the OEM thermostat is 195 F). After three weeks in the engine, the thermostat has failed (it now keeps temperatures between 140 and 150 F). So, if you buy this part, pick up an OEM equivalent thermostat also.
