Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions ABS Sensor:

I had ABS,TRACTION CONTROL and CHECK ENGINE lights on and I put on 2 Moog hub assemblies which were noisy and old anyway with 165,000 miles.I also had 2 codes (1232 and 1225) Aferwards,The lights were still on,so I replaced the wiring with the Dorman kit since I had the L/F wheel code and the light went out and all is well now. Look closely at the wiring because all I had was a bare spot that had rubbed about 1 millimeter showing and that turned on the lights.

this part is not the sensor, it's the wire harness. I spent $52 for a wire and connector I didn't need.

Codes indicate left front sensor open or shorted, but sensor resistance checks OK, 1.6 k ohm. This cable might be what is needed. Where does this terminate at end opposite from wheel? How can I test existing cable on car?

Hi Gene, glad to assist you! Its harness is known to go bad. The resistance will break down on them. They plug into the sensor and you need to follow it and repair it as close to the end as possible. They go into the main harness under the hood.

        • Q:

Description says plug and play, no splicing necessary. How is that possible when 1 end does not have a plug on it? Where is the splice to be made? Also when asked the dimensions of this cable it states it is 5 x 7 x 2 unknown how that is possible?

            A:

We apologize for any confusion caused. The Dorman - OE Solutions ABS Sensor - Part No. 970-008 does come with plastic crimp type connectors and hence splicing is not required. Also the dimension that is mentioned as 5" x 7" x 2" on various websites is not the product's dimension but the package dimension. For any further assistance please feel free to call 1-877-238-2623 and one of our Parts Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

        • Q:

The Wheel Speed Sensor on my 2001 Alero 3.4L has been changed 3 times and the TRAC OFF, ABS, and Service Engine lights keep coming on, the most recent was about 5000 miles ago. 3000 miles ago I changed the drive axles, brake rotors, and pads and the lights came on 2000 miles later. Any suggestions as to the potential cause? could it be the wiring harness and not the sensor itself?

            A:

Make sure the ABS sensor is set close to the toothed ring. If it is too far away it will trip codes. You will have to get the car scanned for codes. You will need to pull codes from the ECM, BCM and ABS modules. It would also be a wiring issue to the wheel speed sensors in the front wheels.

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

This is an ABS wheel speed sensor wiring harness. The ABS sensor reads the rotation of the ABS sensor ring as magnetic pulses -- the peaks have a strong magnetic pull and the valleys have a weak pull -- and send the magnetic pulse to the anti-lock brake system control module. The control module then converts the magnetic pulse to wheel speed.
