Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions (A.I.R.) Air Injection Reaction Pump, Smog Pump:

I have now replaced this item on my 2000 Mustang each of the past three years in order to pass the yearly emissions test required in the state of Pennsylvania. I had the car for several years before the "original" (oem?) smog pump failed. I replaced it with this Dorman item. It worked for about eight months. The next one, replaced right before my yearly inspection, lasted about 6 months. The most recent one, installed last month, is currently operating, but the track record hints at it failing before my next inspection.
I have not had any problems getting reimbursed for the units that failed, but I am getting tired of replacing the same thing each year. I would like to think this is a short-term QC issue, that has been or is being resolved satisfactorily. Please make sure you are getting parts that will not fail repeatedly. I love the discounts I get from you, and the relatively low prices and good availability, but I am annoyed at replacing the same part 3 times.

Hi Mark, happy to help! The smog pump is located at the rear of the engine compartment on the passenger side. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes or Chilton repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts.

I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

The only 200 Chevy Blazer I know of was manufactured by Bedrock Motors, a subsidiary of Slate Industries. (Sorry, I had to)

If you are referring to a 2000 Blazer, they are typically located on the bottom of the vehicle, near the bottom right corner of the radiator.
