The orgaial actulator had rusted through. The replacement works and fits well. Did not work at first until I discovered the metal vacuum lines which ran to the actualor had rusted through as well causing a vacuum leak. repaired the lines and all is well.

          Bought this when my 4WD wouldnt switch off properly in my 96 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4. Installed in minutes and my 4x4 is back to normal. Wish the price was cheaper, but either buy it or dont drive..

                      this actuator works on vacume! if you use a vacume hand pump you should be able to suck on one nipple it will move one way and switch to the other it should move back and hold vacume after it reaches it's stops.

                      Yes, it may be because of 4WD switch or problem in differential or transfer case. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

                      I would take the 4wd actuator off and see if it moving freely by having somone shift it from 4 to 2. Blow it all out make sure its clean. Blow some air into that actuator to free it up and see if it works
