I want to know why the right wiper arm "42541" on a 2002 Chevy Venture is 62 dollars and the left wiper arm "42542" is 19 dollars. It makes no sense seeing the left wiper arm seemingly would be more elaborate to manufacture.

Good question Rob! The part number 42542 is a rear wiper arm and not to the front left (driver) side. The front wiper arm is more in length (32.875 inches) than the rear wiper arm (12.55 inches) and also it comes with a spray nozzle. I think these differences would have made the front wiper arm pricier than the rear one.

  • Q:

how do i remove the wiper arm from the van. i took the lock nut on the top off, but the arm will not come off. in older vehicles you had to put wiper arm in the air and lock it in place, then just take it off the shaft, but this seems different. thanks

I would suggest taking you vehicle to a local Advance Auto Parts location where they may be able to assist you in this considering we replace windshield wipers. Another option I would recommend purchasing a Haynes repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts.
