Comments about Dorman - Help Tie Rod Dust Boot - 1/2 In. Shaft:

I purchased this while replacing the axle on my wife's Honda Civic. The tie rod boot was separated around the base, and I didn't care to get the OEM one. This fit the bill nicely, and formed a nice seal around the ball knuckle. However, the top end is open-ended without any sort of lip or indentation on which to wrap a security band, so I had to improvise with some .032 lockwire. This is my first time performing this task, so I don't have much background to say whether that aspect is simply par for the course. That's probably the only complaint I have - the item is so generic that it will fit most cars, although you'll likely have to make a small adjustment for your particular model. Aside from that, the rubber is quite thick, and formed a nice tight seal around the ball joint, and for the price and availability, it worked great.

This is a good choice if you have a mass-market car (i.e. non-European), and need to make a simple repair.

Much cheaper than a boot from the dealer.

The bad thing is that they are not sold in Advance auto stores.

These dust boots goes into the spindle of the ball joint. They keep the grease for the ball jont and dust out.
