I previously broke two of these trying to get them to fit the holes they are supposed to clip into. I gave the product a bad review at that time and recommended against anyone buying them. However, I still needed to repair my truck and these adjusters are hard to find. I ate my words and bought another pack, but this time with an idea of how to make them fit properly. Since they will not seat far enough into the holes for the tabs to engage and hold, I carefully trimmed the ends of the tabs and shortened them until they eventually engaged and held properly. Problem solved with some effort. I would recommend them as long as the purchaser has enough mechanical savvy to modify them as I did.

Do NOT use this part!!

Comments about Dorman - Help Sealed Beam Adjusters:

The adjusters would not fit properly. I could not get the plastic anchor to push far enough through the mounting holes to engage the tabs. I broke both of the adjusters in the pack trying to pry the tabs enough to make them lock. I hate to say this, being a loyal Advance customer and accustomed to inexpensive parts, but go to the dealer for this one!

Comments about Dorman - Help Sealed Beam Adjusters:

Terrible product! Dorman usually has decent products, but not in this case. I bought 2 packages of adjusting nuts & broke all four trying to put 2 in. I see 2 problems w/ this product: 1.The nuts are made of brittle plastic that w/ little effort they break upon installation - guess it doesn't matter how well it holds up over time, 2. For the 1990 Chevy S-10 application, the steel the reflector is made of is too thick for the groove on the screw head - Dorman used a universal design.

Cons

  • Flimsy Design
  • Very Cheap Made

Comments about Dorman - Help Sealed Beam Adjusters:

This product would be a great product if Dorman would make the nut's out of nylon and not plastic!! The plastic nut's are very easy to strip out but most of all they break during installment. This product just needs a good overhaul!!

get a couple of fine thread lock nuts

Comments about Dorman - Help Sealed Beam Adjusters:

One side tab broke, other one - threads stripped out easily. Toy plastic? A fine thread 1/4 lock nut and fender washer inside metal panel on screw end restored adusting and holds screw in, even if plastic clip ears fail. It was still a quick fix. On the road again!

These are very hard to install without snapping off the tabs. I read the other reviews and thought well if I'm careful they will be ok NOPE. First one broke before it was even all the way in. If you absolutely have to use them buy extras. Once they are in they do work right.

I went ahead and purchased the product even on bad reviews because I didn't have time to go to the dealer. Less than 2 days later, they broke during driving. The ones from the dealer are a more durable product as this one is made from very thin, hard plastic.

BOTH of these adjusters broke immediately upon installing them. One of them the tabs snapped off as soon as it was installed and the other one as soon as the screw was started and was pulling the headlight into position the threads in the plastic stripped out immediately.
