Comments about Dorman - Help Air Conditioning Bypass Pulley:

This was quick and easy fix to almost seized bearings on the compressor. It allowed me to bypass it and took about 15 minutes total had a little trouble with the bolts not wide enough but replaced them at True Value would definitely recommend if you don't want to replace the AC

2000 blazer 4.3L. must be modified to fit

    Cons

    • comes with wrong bolts
    • must be cut to fit

Comments about Dorman - Help Air Conditioning Bypass Pulley:

There is a bolt that holds the power steering filler tube in place on the ac compressor bracket. The ac compressor sits up a little bit to allow the bolt to sit underneath it. The bypass pulley doesn't. I had to cut a square out so it would fit around the bolt. I used a pneumatic cutoff tool; wasn't too difficult.

It comes with bolts that are too small. I had to go to fastenal with my original ac compressor bolts and get shorter ones.

The plastic pulley that it comes with had a slight wobble in it from the get-go. Hopefully doesn't get worse. I couldn't find any other bypass pulleys other than this Dorman one.

Comments about Dorman - Help Air Conditioning Bypass Pulley:

These comments are for a 2000 Chevy Blazer. Wanted to bypass bad compressor with pulley. I read review and replies stating that the first review was wrong and the part has been corrected. WRONG! I purchased this June 5, 2014. The review is still correct. It requires you to modify the power steering filler tube or cut out of the pulley bracket at notch for the bolt for the filler tube. Also you will need 3 m6-1.0x 020mm bolts and washers to mount. Don't know what the bolts they provided were for...It will work but I would guess there is another better one in the market that fits with out modification and does not have a plastic pulley.

first off if your installing this on a 1999 s-10 4.3 engine it doesnt have the right mounting bolts.you have to disconnect the power steering fill tube which cannot be bolted back in place because of clearance issues.the flimsy plastic pulley wobbled from the get go.when are you guys at advance auto gonna get rid of [*] junk" and start selling quality parts?

Hi jfunch! I would be glad to be of assistance! There might have been a shipment error with the previous reviewer's order. However it has happened long back almost 3 years back and it was rectified already. You will not face any similar issue with this part.

You do not use this with a compressor. You remove the entire compressor and install this if you do not want A/C in your car.

No the A/C will not work since this is an A/C bypass pulley.
