      A:

With reference to your query on Dorman - Conduct-Tite Electrical Switches - Toggle - Lever Glow - Blue -(Part No. 85912), Add a switch to the electromagnet by connecting one wire from the nail to the negative (bottom) terminal of the battery using the electrical tape. Cut a short piece of wire and strip both ends of the protective plastic covering. Attach it to the positive (top) terminal of the battery and to one end of switch (supply volts). Open the knife switch. Connect the other wire from the nail to the another terminal of the switch(ON ACC). You can connect the ground terminal to the ground if available. Close the knife switch to complete the circuit and test out your magnet.
