Q:I have a 1929 REO and am looking for a gage to install in the head to replace the one that failed. I need a 5/8-18 thread for the installation nut. I also need to know the following: Is the bezel removable (the REO gage is upside down from yours and I need to change the face). How long is the probe? What is it shield ed with?
A:Hi Goldie, I'm glad to assist you. This Dorman - Champ Water Temperature Gauge - Mechanical (Part No. 7-120) is universal and not a vehicle specific. It is a mechanical gauge that is not removable or serviceable. It does come with a 96" lead wrapped in braided line.
Q:How do I install this on a 1990 maxima?
A:Hi Allen, I'm glad to assist you! This is a universal coolant gauge. We do not offer any vehicle specific installation instructions for these. You'll have to look on your motors for a threaded hole in the coolant system to be used on that you can screw this into.
Q:How and where would I place the sensor on
A:With reference to your inquiry on the Dorman - Champ Water Temperature Gauge - Mechanical - Part No. 7-120 the 1971 Buick 350 come with two threaded "ports" in the intake manifold, one on each side of the thermostat housing. You can use any one of these threaded ports to install your Water temperature gauge. Q:My Ranger has a plug on the driver side of the block.
A:The plug on the driver side of the block on your Ford ranger is for the freeze plug. To install the Dorman - Champ Water Temperature Gauge - Mechanical - Part No. 7-120 you will have to drill a hole, install it, and get it nice and sealed. You will have to install it in a location where it will have contact with the coolant so that you can figure out how hot/cold it's running. I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.
