  • Q:

What is the difference between upstream and downstream as far as the basic fit to the Catalytic Converter?

With reference to your inquiry on the Denso Oxygen Sensor Direct Fit - Part No. 234-1051, the upstream is before the catalytic converter, the downstream is after. The upstream sensor tells, how the engine runs whereas the downstream sensor only tells if the catalytic converter is going bad. For compatibility with your vehicle, please provide the year, make, model and engine size of your vehicle and for any further assistance, please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our Parts Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.
