this is real steel, not plastic aftermarket junk. very easy to install, strong, runs quite, looks great. you may wanna go ahead and replace both pulleys when you have to replace one, i wound up haveing to pull belt twice. which requires a ladder on my truck. this is the heavy duty idler pulley, it cost a little more but it is not plastic,, and with the torque my motor has prefer real steel..

Replaced the tensioner pulley on my '96 Buick LeSabre. Doesn't really look like the original pulley, but appears to be the same exact diameter and just a hair wider, so it fit just fine. Haven't had any problems and the new pulley totally eliminated the grinding noise emanating from my old pulley.

FYI: the bolt on the tenioner pulley is reverse threaded.

Exact match of original Chrysler part. The Advance website description stinks though. It calls this part an idler, but it calls the other one an idler also. I had to go to the Dayco website to figure out which one I needed. This idler is the one that is attached to a stationary bracket on the engine. The other idler is the one attached to the spring loaded tensioner arm.

Hi Pops, glad to help! Sorry, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it nor provide you with a 100% answer. I would recommend purchasing a Chilton or Haynes Repair Manual for your vehicle, not only will it explain how to replace an idler pulley, but you'll find it handy for many more projects on your vehicle.

Just installed the Dayco No Slack Idler/Tensioner Pulley.

The original Ford idler pulley has a diameter of about 91mm. The Dayco part has a reported diameter of 76mm. Though the Dayco part is listed as an exact fit for a 2000 Ford Taurus, it does not match the original Ford part specs. However, this part does fit.

Generally, new a/c compressors come with pulley. If it does not, it is always better to replace compressor with new pulley.
