Bought to replace seized tensioner in an '02 Tahoe with 240k + miles. Pulley is made of plastic but seems strong enough. Replacement was a bit of a pain but not to bad, would have been much easier with the car on a lift, as you need to access it from the bottom. Had to take off a plastic rock shield (5 bolts) and loosen the serpentine belt (meaning 10 minutes of wrestling with it to get it back routed and on properly), but other than that it wasn't bad.

Gone through 2 of these now and the quality is questionable. My compressor is faulty and I am replacing now, but the tensioner would develop stress cracks in the aluminum casting (arm) after only 30 mins of use. I must add the compressor was putting stress on it and it was bouncing quite a bit keeping up. Still seems like a poorly made product.

Replaced a squeaky/wore out tensioner with this unit. So far so good. The pulley is plastic vs. the original metal one but maybe it will hold up just as well - the bearing usually goes before the pulley anyway.

Comments about Dayco No Slack Belt Tensioner:

These reviews, on a part such as I replaced are a complete waste of my time. The part had fail with 165,000+ miles on the vehicle so one must replace it or more damage will occur. You need to revise your policy on these reviews to exclude parts that are essential to the operation of the vehicle. It is not the easiest part to replace, but it is not the most difficult either. If you are handy you can do it with out removing the skid plate as suggested in my repair manual. A good light source is needed and some common sense. The total time was about 40 minutes from start to finish

The old tensioner had frozen and burnt the belt off. this part was easy to install and was a life saver for my Son-in-Law. He works out of town and it gets warm around here. New part work as advertised and now he's cooling again.
