Check Vehicle Fit

The CURT class 3 trailer hitch is the most common type of trailer hitch installed on full-size pickup trucks and SUVs. It is also found on full-size cars, crossover SUVs, minivans and mid-size trucks. That is because the class 3 packs the punch of a heavyweight hitch while still staying light on its feet. This CURT class 3 hitch offers a gross trailer weight capacity of 4,000 lbs. and a comparable tongue weight capacity of 400 lbs. It is designed to be a custom-fit trailer hitch for certain years of the Ford Ranger pickup or Mazda B2300, B3000 or B4000 pickup (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). It features a round tube frame and comes with all necessary hardware for a complete installation. The 2" x 2" receiver tube opening of this class 3 hitch is able to accept a hitch-mounted accessory, such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, or a ball mount to tow most standard size trailers, including utility trailers, single-horse livestock trailers, boat trailers and large campers. One special feature about the class 3 that is not found in classes 1 or 2 is its compatibility with a weight distribution hitch. When used in combination with a WD hitch, this class 3's gross trailer weight capacity increases to 6,000 lbs. and the tongue weight capacity to 600 lbs. (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component).CURT class 3 trailer hitches are engineered to be strong and capable, having a quality steel frame and a solid finish. They are put through strenuous testing before being deemed ready for market and come with two coatings -- a liquid Bonderite coating and a powder coat in high-gloss black -- that cure together to form a strong resistance against rust, scratching, UV damage and other wear. Our hitches are our pride, and as such, we back them up with a limited lifetime warranty and a one-year finish warranty.

Comments about Curt Class 3 Trailer Hitch:

Purchased online - had it shipped(free shipping) to my home - arrived in 5 days. My truck is a 2003 Ford Ranger Edge, 2 wheel drive. No drilling is required for install. An extra set of hands is helpful, but not required. Majority of hitch remains hidden from view and it doesn't interfere with the spare tire. It is well made/solid with a nice powder coat. Install was 25 minutes. To install, drop your spare down to the ground to get it out of way. Remove 2 (furthest forward-towards front of truck) of the 4 bolts attaching rear bumper which are held to the frame with jam nuts. Loosen remaining 2, THEN remove the 2 jam nuts from the bolts you completely removed. If you don't first loosen the remaining 2 bumper bolts you will struggle to get the jam nuts to slide out. Lastly, bolt up new hitch with included hardware. An extra set of hands is helpful here. I was willing to pay a little more for this because of its nice curved design and the no drill install.

Comments about Curt Class 3 Trailer Hitch:

This Curt Receiver installed easily. Follow the instructions and the install will take very little time. Suggestion --- Use a "breaker bar" to remove bumper attachment bolts and if you need to drill 1/2 inch holes, like I did, drill small to larger holes until you are at 1/2 inch and use SHARP drill bits. This Curt receiver will easily handle my pop up camper and is capable of heavier task -- probably beyond what my Ranger can handle !! Great product.

Comments about Curt Class 3 Trailer Hitch:

This hitch fits my 99 ranger short bed 2 wheel drive like it was built with the truck.I am really happy how well it is hide and not hanging down like a lot of hitches I have seen.
It is very well built and has black power coating all over and very clean welds.
It is easier to install with 2 people or using a floor jack to hold it in place while bolting on. I did it by myself by using my stomach to hold it in place while installing bolts.I would have used my floor jack but didn't think of that till I was finish. It took me about 45 minutes doing it myself and with 2 people or a floor jack the time would be much less.

I would have gave it 5 stars, except it says you dont have to move the spare tire, its true but the spare dosent fit as snugly as before, not a big deal to me,i just wish they would have mentioned it, as after installing i thought maybe i did something wrong, i didnt, it just dosent fit snugly

Comments about Curt Class 3 Trailer Hitch:

Installing hitch was simple. The factory bolts use clips in the frame have to remove them. the tow hook bolts were the only issues I ran into. I have the ranger level II with the 31" tires and the spare fits under it with no problem in its orignal position. I would definately recommend to others.
