This product worked very well in restoring an older, somewhat worn and slipping, self-propelled lawn mower drive belt. There is no adjustment provided for tightening the aging drive belt.

Before using the conditioner, I first lightly deglazed the "V" surfaces of the belt with medium steel wool (emery or fine sandpaper should also do the job, before spraying several times (allowing each application to absorb into the belt).

The belt no longer slips and seems a lot more pliable.

My goal in using this product was to give added service life to an expensive, special order belt, that would have required an involved replacement procedure. If the belt lasts even another season or so, I would be very pleased.

Just makes it worse!

I was warned by the Advance auto employee that this stuff may make the belt noise worse... he was right! My belt churp became a constant squeal after applying this stuff!

I hope preserve older belts on my truck. they were looking gray. it is supposed to penitrate and preserve. they are black again but are tacky. seems like they would be less likely to slip but i did not have that problem. I hope dust does not stick to them now

2004 Hyundai Elantra Power Steering belt squealing at startup. Removed same and Alternator belt. Both belts 4 ribs. Sprayed inside about 1/4 around, twisted tip of paper towel tight to press between pair ribs and wipe between/remove excess solution and dirt. Repeat per rib pair, repeat per 1/4 section til done. Then sprayed paper towel and wiped across inside/top of ribs. Reinstalled belts and tightened - no slip/no squeal.

Comments about CRC Belt Conditioner, 7.5 oz.:

In addition to it being used for its obvious purpose, it can also be used to shine various rubber engine trim. However, it is slightly sticky after it dries.

I've also sprayed this on the bottom of a pair of shoes that were squeaky on tile and they were quiet for a few weeks.

As far as the quality of the product itself... Although CRC makes fantastic stuff, this product seems a little watered down. It seems like silicone spray with some kind of tacky chemical added for use on belts. I haven't come across anything better for belts, though.

Comments about CRC Belt Conditioner, 7.5 oz.:

Used it on a Taurus with a timing cover leak. Coolant had been ruining the belts for several years. I fixed the timing cover then sprayed CRC on to avoid having to purchase a new belt. It didn't work when I sprayed it on, it just made the squeaking significantly worse. I sprayed it on SPARINGLY, as the label indicates.

It is clear the purpose of the compound is to make the surface of the belt tacky and/or remove contaiminants/resurface so it eliminates the squeak. I decided to remove the belt, spray CRC onto a rag, and rub it onto the flat surface of the belt. This way I could insure an even application, and best of all, it WORKED.
