Does what it was designed to do. Vehicle had fantastic shifting for having 235,000 miles on it. Did have issues prior to fluid change with slow shifting, hard shifting, and strange noise from transmission. This changed when I changed the fluids with clean ones. I have had a dealership change my transmission fluid in the past they did not solve the issue. Removal of the transmission fluid pan and a good cleanings did the trick to solve the noise and shifting issues. Try this yourself but use a few different containers to catch the fluid when you loosen the pan. Good luck.

Worth buying and gets the job done I replaced my old transmission fluid to this one and there was a big difference in the way my transmission shifts in a great way. Shifts like butter with not struggle. Keep in mind always make sure before changing your transmission fluid to have your car inspected by a Professional to advise you if you should or should not change your transmission fluid.

Comments about Castrol Transmax Dexron/Mercon Domestic Multi-vehicle (ATF) Automatic Transmission Fluid (1 Gallon):

I used this product to help replace the ATF and filter on a 2004 Chevy Impala Base model with a 3.8L Engine. The vehicle previously had the fluids flushed, but not by machine, but rather a pump, and later the transmission was serviced changing the filter and the fluid but using 2-3 quarts of synthetic ATF and 1 quart of Lucas Transmission Additive which caused the transmission to poorly shift as an intermittent problem. I reserviced the transmission with an new filter and 5 quarts of this product and 3 quarts of Castrol's high mileage ATF as substitute to the Lucas Additive since the high mileage does this as well. The performance of the transmission greatly improved an now no longer has this intermittent problem any longer and cost a lot less than those Synthetic ATFs and additives.

I'm glad to assist you! This Castrol Transmax DEX/MERC ATF meets or exceeds General Motors DEXRON-IIIH requirements, not DEXRON-VI requirements, therefore Castrol Transmax DEX/MERC ATF is not recommended for use in applications calling for DEXRON-VI. However, Castrol Transmax DEXRON-VI ATF and Castrol Transmax Full Synthetic Multi-Vehicle ATF products meet or Exceed General Motors DEXRON-VI requirements.

                    A:

Yes, Eavan, this is an exact transmission fluid for your 2000 Toyota Sienna. Your vehicle should require 3.7 Quarts for service change and 8 Quarts for total fill. However, when it comes to repairs and maintenance, it is always better to refer the vehicle owner's manual for the exact specification and quantity for safer and better results.

I'm glad to assist you, Tom! This Castrol Transmax DEX/MERC ATF #03520 does not meet Allison TES-389 specifications. The Castrol Heavy Duty Multi-Purpose ATF is Allison TES-389 approved. However, I always recommend following the guidelines of the original engine manufacturer for the recommended fluid for use in your specific application. I'm glad to assist, Smith! I always recommend following the guidelines of the engine manufacturer for the recommended oil (i.e. SAE grade, API rating and manufacturer specifications) specific to your application. This information can always be found in the owner's manual or by contacting the manufacturer directly. According to 2001 Jeep Cherokee automatic transmission (except AW-4), it uses ATF+4 type fluid. Castrol Transmax Dexron/Mercon ATF does not meet ATF+4 requirements and should not be used. Castrol Transmax ATF+4 #06810 meets ATF+4 specifications and may be used in your application.

Hi Gowri, tricky question! This automatic transmission fluid would be an ideal ATF for your 1997 Geo Prizm. However, the cause of sluggish shift on your vehicle may be even with the shift solenoids. This may need a mechanic's expertise to determine. I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

                  • CUSTOMER CARE

                    A:

Hi Shannon, that's a great question! The transmission is definitely a highly overlooked part of the vehicle and quite an expensive repair. The symptoms you describe could be caused by the fluid or something else. We recommend that you check with a certified mechanic. This link can help you find a mechanic for diagnosis:

                    http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/content_find-my-mechanic___

For your vehicle you would need a Dexron VI ATF Part No. 06822. Transmission fluid will, like your engine oil, get dirty and have products of wear in it as well. The recommended service interval for your 1999 Pontiac Grand Am 3.4L V6 transmission is 100,000 miles for standard service and 50,000 miles for severe service. You would also want to replace the filter at this time with Part No. DW-FK292. If you're going to do this yourself, you may also need a repair manual Part No. 38026.
