I've used Castrol since the early 1980's and it's never let me down. Installed 4.5 quarts of fluid and a new filter for the 50,000 mile transmission service, and the transmission is running noticably smoother.

Shop manual says to use liquid gasket, but go with a good qaulity rubber gasket. Once you drop the pan, fliud will drip out, literally, for more than an hour making it impossible to have a clean dry serface to apply the liquid gasket...odds are it will leak and at $7 a quart, you don't want to drop that pan again to install a rubber gasket...also, use a torque wrench to get it right...too tight or loose and it will leak.

Hard to find TF for Chrysler in most stores for some reason. I was glad to find it here, however I would recommend that you DON'T have it delivered to your home because it will almost certainly leak during shipping like mine did, and got all over my entire parts order. I had to spend over an hour cleaning this very bad smelling oily stuff off of my other parts and toss all the packaging they came in.

Comments about Castrol Transmax ATF+4 Automatic Transmission Fluid (1 Quart):

I prefer to go OEM, but the prices are through the roof, and what are you really gaining? I mean come on, this is ATF! On sale, this stuff is half the price of my dealer and manufacturer authorized to boot. I am on the road in training and my 12 Grand Cherokee NAG1 transmission started doing the shimmy-shake at 88k miles. So picked up a transfer pump and changed 4 of the 8 quarts in a parking lot. Big improvement, but didn't solve everything yet and have to do a real ATF + filter change when I get to see my tools again. At least the shifting has smoothed out considerably and will get me safely home. I also added about 4 ounces of the Lucas Oil transmission fix, but could not tell you how much it helped. I don't see where it has caused me any problems though.

Hi Ben, glad to assist you! I see that this automatic transmission fluid is not ideal for your 2003 Mercedes-Benz CLK500. We have an alternate Pentosin ATF1 Automatic Transmission Fluid (1 Liter) - part# 1058107 which would be an ideal ATF fluid for your vehicle.

              A:

Hi Ted, great question! I researched and found that this +4 (ATF) automatic transmission fluid features full synthetic formula that exceeds ATF+3 requirements. You would need 6 quarts for filter service and approximately 12 quarts dry fill for your Dodge Dakota.

I have a 2004 jeep liberty and need to know the total fluid capacity of transmission. I have a 13 bolt pan but do not know the exact name of transmission. Engine is 3.7 v6 vin 1J4GL48K24W225150. Also would a total flush be adviseable since it has regular conventional fluid installed before. I change every 40,000 miles so this will be third change. My mechanic reccomends synthetic since when below Zero degrees it shifts slugglish since brand new.
