This standard is recognized by Japanese OEMs in certifying ATF for use in their vehicles. Furthermore, while Castrol Import Multi-Vehicle ATF is designed to meet the demanding requirements of many foreign transmissions, it also meets the requirements of many domestic vehicles as well. It actually makes me laugh when I read the comments about how you absolutely HAVE to use Hionda ATF in a Honda Transmission. Does anyone actually think that Castrol does not have Chemist/Engineers that are able to reverse engineer and analyize exactly what constituents are in the Honda ATF fluid and duplicate it? Also, do you think that Castrol would advertise an oil for a specific use that would result in a massive number of lawsuits? I have been using Castrol Oil since I first started working on engines at about 12 years old. I am now 69. How long do you think they would have stayed in business producing a product that would ruin transmissions?

Comments about Castrol Import Multi-vehicle (ATF) Automatic Transmission Fluid (1 Quart):

I tried several ATFs to see which produced the best shifts in my 1998 Nissan Altima. This was the clear winner. Smooth, quick shifts up and down. 2nd - Valvoline Mult-Import - slightly less smooth and clunky 2-1. 3rd - Valvoline MaxLife - noticeably harsher shifts, and shift timing not as precise. This combined with a small amount of Lubegard Red gives me new car shifts in my 16 year old - but much loved - heap.

Comments about Castrol Import Multi-vehicle (ATF) Automatic Transmission Fluid (1 Quart):

Im a Honda guy and I know this says for Honda and it replaces ATF Z1 and DW1 however I have gone to Honda dealer and they claim this is not true. Now Castrol made this claim, not Honda. Honda Transmission are known for being funny. However this fluid has its place. Genuine Honda ATF is expensive. So when you flushing out the oil fluid you can use this to save $. I just remove the trans cooler hose and start the car and pour this into Tranny till all the old dark ATF is gone then I start to pour 7.5 QTs of Genuine Honda ATF DW1. Also Honda ATF DW1 is synthetic, Im not sure if this is synthetic however if it was Im sure they would put it on the bottle. However Im not saying its bad, It does have its place and I know people who use and are happy. However I like Genuine Honda AT Fluid. Just for the Trans. :)

Comments about Castrol Import Multi-vehicle (ATF) Automatic Transmission Fluid (1 Quart):

My wife has a 2006 Mercury Milan that has 180K on it and still going strong. One of the things that was due to change was the the transaxle fluid. With care consideration, and not having to use the "motorcraft" brand FNR5, The specs for the Castrol, seemed to have a match. I did a complete tranmission flush (9 qts) siphoned out another after a few miles driving, then added a qt of Lucas additive for transmissions, Between this and the Castrol, smooth shifts were there again. Thanks!

Hi Rob, happy to help you! This Castrol Transmax Import Multi-Vehicle Automatic Transmission Fluid is for use in most Honda, Toyota, Nissan and other imported vehicles. It exceeds the requirements of the JASO-1A performance standard created by Japanese Automobile Manufacturers. This standard is recognized by Japanese OEMs in certifying ATF for use in their vehicles. It meets or exceeds General Motors DEXRON-IIIH, Ford MERCON V and Ford MERCON requirements. However, when it comes to repairs and maintenance it is always recommended to refer the vehicle owner's manual for the exact specifications to get better and safer results.

I've got siphon pump (Performance multiuse pump) from your store and was wondering if I can drain out old transmission fluid myself using the pump through the dip stick opening, and pour in new ATF. Will I be able to get most or all of the old fluid out using the pump? I don't want to get under the car to remove the drain plug.
I've never done this, does the car need ATF filter replaced just like oil filter? I don't even know if the car has ATF filter!!
Also I've 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer automatic, I would like to know how many quarts of this ATF do I need.
Please let me know if I can do this on my own using just the siphon pump. Thank you

                  A:

Happy to answer your question Ramas! The pump may be able to pull transmission fluid if it can fit down the dip stick tube but the amount will vary on how deep the pump tube goes. For your vehicle (02 Lancer) the filter would be Part No WD-FK321, it does mention that it requires transmission dis-assembly. For a service change you will need 5.4 quarts, for a total fill 8.1. I suggest getting a hold of a repair manual or speak with a certified mechanic for advice on the procedure.
