I switched from the oil in the yellow bottle that starts with the letter P and I tell you I think my truck is running better with this oil in it. It seem to reduce engine noise, feels more smooth. I know I had about 3-4k miles on the last oil change so dont know, either im seeing and hearing things or something changed.

I bought a used Honda Accord with 70K on it. I was initially running Motorcraft 5W-20 synthetic blend because I also had an F-150 that took the same oil. At 100K I pulled the valve cover to do a valve adjustment. Clean as a whistle inside. I had been noticing though that the engine used a small amount of oil, about 1/2 a quart every 1K. I found this is common for the 2.4 Honda engines and the easy fix is switch to 5W-30. This is the point I started using the Castrol GTX.

A little over 25K later I again removed the valve cover to install a new gasket set. I was shocked to see sludge deposits all over the inside of the valve cover. Some more research verified this oil is prone to coking. I will no longer use Castrol GTX. If you like it fine, but DO NOT let it go past 3K without a change. I don't do short trips or dirt roads and figured 5K changes were fine, as they were with the Motorcraft I used previously. Wrong. You have been warned.

Comments about Castrol GTX 5W-30 Conventional Motor Oil (1 Quart):

Anytime you can get quarts of name brand oil at less than $4 a piece, is a great buy in anyone's book. Ordered online & BOOM! Walk in, get oil, walk out. It just doesn't get any easier. Don't have search for what you're after, and only finding what you're after, after finding everything else you don't need. Online ordering is totally the way to go when buying auto parts, and with Advance, it just can not be done any easier, not to mention all the great discounts for being a repeat customer. I don't buy locally from anyone else.

Comments about Castrol GTX 5W-30 Conventional Motor Oil (1 Quart):

I have used the Castrol GTX 5w-30 Motor Oil and 10w-40 since I was a teenager. I used to change the oil and filter on my father's 1990 Toyota Camry V6 DLX with the Castrol GTX 10w-40 every 2,000-3,000 miles. Now older I changed oil and filter on a 2 2000 Toyota Corollas which have now been traded in. One in 2004 with around 40,000 miles on it for a brand new 2005 Toyota Corolla Le which has only 49,500 miles on it and other than the outside of the body from dents and dings runs excellent with this motor oil. The other which looked like it came out of a junk yard traded in 2011 for a brand new 2011 Toyota Corolla S, which uses 0w-20 full synthetic motor oil. This motor oil is excellent and I highly recommend it to everyone. Make sure you know the right grade for your car or truck, the number of quarts it needs, an oil filter, a bucket or drip pan to drain the old oil, a socket wrench set and if needed an oil filter wrench or groove joint pliers to remove the engine oil filter. Don't forget to recycle your used motor oil too.

I ONLY used Castrol GTX on a 1997 Dodge Intrepid that I put over 200,000 miles on, and in my 2004 Subaru WRX (turbo) that has 300,000 miles. The motors are rock solid with this stuff!! I change the oil exactly at 5,000 miles +/-100 miles.
