Comments about Castrol GTX 10W-30 Conventional Motor Oil (1 Quart):

I was searching for the right oil for my '92 Volvo 240 and read various comments online debating the pros and cons of synthetic vs dino oil. I finally decided that dino oil was sufficient, after reading a comment about how one could use cooking oil in a Volvo 240 and do okay. I was delighted to see that one of the best dino oils was on sale on the Advanced Auto website, Castrol GTX, 10w-30, so I order four quarts.

    Can't go wrong

Comments about Castrol GTX 10W-30 Conventional Motor Oil (1 Quart):

own a 2003 Honda Accord with 128,000+ miles at this point. I have put every mile on that car and have done my best to take good care of it. At around 100,000 miles I started to leak some oil. Not bad but I was concerned. I did some research on high mileage oil and figured I would see if it really would do what it says it will do...help stop small leaks. Right away it swelled up those old seals and I haven't leaked a drop in almost 30,000 miles. The nice thing is with the premium filter that I am using I don't have to change this oil but every 6,000 which makes life easier.

One recommendation which I followed and may also be what is helping with the leak. The car originally called for 5w-20 and I use the thicker 5w-30. Something to think about

I have used Castrol GTX for many, many years. How long is Castrol GTX 10 W- 30 good for. I have stored a Motorhome for about 4 tot 5 years. Do I need to change the oil after it has been sitting Idle for about 4/5 Years. I turn the Eigine on every 1 to 2 Month?

                A:

Hi Bolle, good question! I would recommend you to change the oil since the vehicle has been sitting idle for about 4/5 Years. The oil change intervals can be as short as 3,000 miles or as long as 15,000 miles as it depends upon the driving conditions. I would recommend that you follow the oil and filter change intervals as specified in your owner’s manual.

I'm glad to answer your question! I read the Product Data Sheet from Castrol and I see that there is Zinc listed as a substance in the oil. The specific quantity is not clear.
